What is a Letter of Enrolment?

A Letter of Enrolment is a formal document issued by an educational institution, such as a university or college, to confirm a student’s enrolment status. It typically includes essential information, such as the student’s name, program of study, enrolment dates and any specific details required by the recipient, such as an embassy or immigration authority.

Why is a Notarised Letter of Enrolment Important?

A notarised Letter of Enrolment serves various purposes, including:

  1. Visa Applications: International students often require a Letter of Enrolment to apply for a student visa in the UK.
  2. Employment: Some employers may request this letter as proof of a student’s status for internship or work opportunities.
  3. Scholarships: Scholarship providers may ask for a Letter of Enrolment to verify the recipient’s educational status.
  4. Housing: Landlords or accommodation providers may request this document as part of the rental application process.
  5. Government Authorities: Immigration authorities, embassies, or other government entities may need the letter to process immigration or residency applications.

Process for Notarising and Legalising Letter of Enrolment:

We can notarise your Letter of Enrolment in three ways;

  • Your original Letter of Enrolment

You would need to provide us with the original Letter of Enrolment. We would then contact the issuer to confirm that the letter is genuine and authentic. We would then provide a notarial certificate either directly on the original letter or attach a notarial certificate to the original letter.

  • A photocopy of your Letter of Enrolment

You would need to provide us with the original Letter of Enrolment. We would then make a photocopy of the original letter and notarise the copy as a true copy either on the copy itself or by attaching a separate notarial certificate.

  • A printout of your electronic Letter of Enrolment produced from the original PDF or other electronic document.

You would need to provide us with the original email from the issuer in which the letter was attached as a PDF.  Once we have verified the letter is genuine, we would print a copy and notarise the copy either on the copy itself or by attaching a separate notarial certificate.

Once the document has been notarised, it may also need to be apostilled by the FCDO or require additional embassy legalisation depending on where it is going to be used.  Our team offers a Premium Service (same day/next day) or Standard Service (3 working days) for obtaining the apostille.  Additionally, we offer eApostille services (2 working days) if you also require eNotarisation.

Visit our Consular Legalisation page for further information on whether you would also require legalisation at the embassy/consulate.
