Jamaica requirements

On 2 November 2020, Jamaica formally acceded to the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (commonly known as the Apostille Convention). This came into force on 3 July 2021 making Jamaica the 120th contracting party.

Documents notarised in the United Kingdom, will now only need to be apostilled by the Legalisation Office of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to be valid in Jamaica.

It is common for requesting parties in Jamaica to accept documents notarised by a UK notary without an apostille.  We recommend checking with them before ordering an apostille, as you might be able to save some money.

Our leading team can  guide you through the process of getting notarisation and an apostille. Contact us today to get started.
