ID1 Form

An ID1 Form is a verification of your identity used to safeguard against identity fraud and money laundering. It is generally required in property sales when you are sending an application to the HM Land Registry regarding a land value of £6,000 or more.

The form includes the following personal information:

• Title
• Full name
• Date of birth
• Current address
• How long you have lived at this address
• Addresses of the past five years
• Telephone number(s)
• Type of application
• Title number(s)
• Address of the purchase property

Once you have filled out section A of the form, you must have your identity verified by an authorised legal body like a notary public, who will complete the rest of the document.

Before submitting your ID1 Form to the HM Land Registry or another party involved in your property transaction, you must have your identity verified. 

A notary can complete this process for you, typically with a same-day return. You will need to visit our office and bring a form of identification.

This can be one of the following:

• Valid Passport
• Current UK Driving Licence
• Biometric Residence Permit

Alternatively, you can submit two of the following:

• Credit/debit card and a bank statement less than three months old
• Utility bill less than three months old
• Council tax bill from the current year
• Council rent book showing three months of rent paid
• Mortgage statement accounting the previous year
• Current firearm certificate

If you need to complete the verification process via video call, you must instead fill in an ID5 Form.

The process for notarising an ID1 Form typically involves these steps:

• Form Completion: Ensure Section A of the ID1 Form is accurately completed.
