What is a Professional Qualification Certificate?

A Professional Qualification Certificate is a formal document awarded after you have obtained a specific qualification or licence. Usually you will have to successfully complete a series of exams, a vocational training course or other professional steps.

Professional qualifications are common in many fields, including:

  • Medicine
  • Law
  • Engineering
  • Finance

You may need to present your certificates when applying for jobs or training in the future, so it’s important to keep the original copies safe.

When Do You Need to Get a Professional Qualification Certificate Notarised?

If you are applying for a new job or course, the employer or institution may request a notarised original or copy of your professional qualification certificate. This is common when you are applying for a role overseas.

  • If the notarisation of an original document is required, we must verify the authenticity of the document with the issuing party. Once the verification is finalised, we will proceed with the notarisation.
  • If you require notarisation of a copy of the document, we must be provided with the original document and we will notarise a photocopy as a ‘true copy of the original document’. No verification is required in this case and notarisation is completed on the spot.

The notarial certificate tells the employer that this is an authentic certificate and there is no doubt that you have achieved the qualification.

We can assist you with notarisation and meet the specific needs of the recipient. We will also secure an apostille – a standardised form of authentication – when required by the destination country.

  5. If an apostille is required, we can submit the e-notarised copy to the FCDO for an e-apostille.
  6. We will share the PDF file of the document which can be viewed using Adobe Reader.

Paper-based Notarisation

  1. Book an appointment to hand-deliver the original certificate, or send it to us via post or courier.
  2. We will verify the document directly with the issuer.
  3. Once confirmed, we will make a copy of the original certificate and notarise the copy.
  4. If you need an apostille, we will personally submit the notarised copy at the FCDO legalisation office in Milton Keynes.
